Our opinions on Ukrainian and Byelorussian issues

All the schisms of the Catholic (Universal) Orthodoxy are caused by not spiritual but political craving for independence. The Committee of the National Revival of Russia (CNRR) strictly condemns any types of church schisms. The Orthodox Church should be as united as the Slavic nations. In the possible new Eastern-Orthodox Slavic Union we unconditionally support the idea of Ukrainian and Byelorussian «national» churches as a part of the Catholic (Universal) Orthodox Church, officially recognized by all 15 Orthodox Churches.

Considering no other alternatives, CNRR supports the Ukrainian and Byelorussian Churches, which have been part of the Russian Orthodox Church for more than a decade already. A wide autonomy of these «national» Churches in the sphere of the Russian Church is also highly supported. CNRR is convinced in that any new schisms have to be abandoned. In addition, CNRR condemns any spread of religions being non-traditional for this area, including the Roman Catholic Church, in the entire Orthodox land of Russia, Ukraine and Byelorussia.

CNRR does not support any territorial claims neither to Ukraine nor to Byelorussia and proclaims the unity of all three nations with a complete preservation of the national distinctiveness of all three comprising nations of the Eastern-Orthodox Slavic (Russian, Ukrainian and Byelorussian) civilization. CNRR considers this union made by free will and equal rights of all three nations.

CNRR admits the Ukrainian and Byelorussian languages being distinctive and supports the preservation and free development of these languages. CNRR proposes that the Russian, Ukrainian and Byelorussian languages have equal status all across the Eastern-Orthodox Slavic civilization. All free languages, Russian, Ukrainian and Byelorussian, must obtain the status of the official state language in the entire future Eastern-Orthodox Union.

Russian, Ukrainian and Byelorussian nations may disagree on the issue of the Russian Empire but are united in the common hostility to the heritage of the soviet era and in the striving for the spiritual revival of our Motherland. CNRR supports the revival of all three languages and cultures, Russian, Ukrainian and Byelorussian and condemns any artificial obstacles to this rebirth.
